Still not sure? Use this checklist to determine what you’re eligible for.
How long will it take?
How long your appointment takes depends on how prepared you are. Missing or incomplete paperwork can result in delays.
Avoid delays by being prepared for your appointment.
Appointment
If you come prepared with cash, checks, forms, documents, photos, and photocopies, your appointment will take approximately 10-15 minutes per person. Otherwise, if you come unprepared, it may take longer, or we may need to reschedule your appointment.
Processing Times
Please check the U.S. Department of State website for current processing times. Processing times are listed at the bottom of the page.
Expedited Processing (+$60) is the fastest option available at the library. If you need your passport sooner, please see the Get Your Passport in a Hurry page.
Avoid Delays
Missing or incomplete paperwork can result in rescheduled appointments, processing delays, and rejection by the Passport Agency. If you choose to submit your application with incomplete documentation against our advice, the Passport Agency may contact you for additional documentation.
The library has no control over processing times, and takes no responsibility for any delays.
Make sure you get your passport ASAP by avoiding these common mistakes:
- Bring all your documents, photocopies, and payments to your appointment.
- Do not write the mother’s married name in the “Last Name (At Parent’s Birth)” box on page 2. Write her original/maiden name.
- If you make a mistake, start over. Do not cross out or use white-out on forms.
- Do not print double-sided forms or photocopies.
- You must bring a passport photo. We do not provide photos.
- If you have a valid passport, you should submit it with your application (unless renewing online).
What should I bring?
Please double-check that you have all the necessary items, and remember to bring everything to your appointment. Missing paperwork or payment may result in delay or rejection by the Passport Agency. Contact the library if you have any questions.
